Would anyone object to long term storage with the nomos case that cng sells? Coins very in condition from VF to EF. Values anywhere from$100-$10,000 per coin. Don’t know if that matters.

I’ve thought about paper storage but like looking at the coins!
    Thanks for feedback

I like the Nomos case as it's deep enough for thicker coins whereas some Abafil trays are too shallow. I cut up Saflips and have them beneath the coin as a barrier on top of the fabric in the case to prevent the coins from moving around at all, although it's probably overkill.

I too like the Nomos cases. I prefer my Abafil arrangement because I can store 4 trays in one case and this fits my entire collection.

I loved my collection when it was in trays but it grew into too many cases. Now I use one case with ten trays for 'greatest hits'. Others are in paper. I see CNG is offering a special price on 12 cases with 40 spaces each. That is 480 coins. I passed 480 coins sometime around 1990. It is a decision we all must make. If most coins are $10,000, 480 is a large group. If most are $100, it is not so many after a few years. If most are $10 and the coin count is in the thousands, cases lose appeal unless you have huge, museum style cabinets. I went through my coins and found about fifty I could bear to sell. I was hoping for 400+ expendables but that just is not 'me'. They will stay in paper.

I don't have any specific experience with ancient coin storage mechanisms yet, other than TPG slabs of course. But if I ever have coins worth anywhere in the vicinity of $10K, then they will definitely be stored in secondary containment (aka: Fireproof safe).

Thanks everyone, I’m not sure I understand cutting up saflips and putting them underneath the coins. Is this more useful for cases that get moved frequently? If I leave them sitting in the case do I need to move the coins or flip them over every 6 months or does it matter?
