RSCN6871.jpg RSCN6874.jpg RSCN6872.JPG Wilhelm Grunder Von Karlsruhe Commemorative Medal dated 1715 1965. I've only found one but it was a private auction in Germany, well for members only I guess. Couldn't see how much it went for, so if you have any information about this Gold medal, like where and how many were minted please let me know. The medal is 9.8 grams 986 24 karat Gold, it's in a gold bazel with gold chain. Total weight is 13.8 grams. Thanks itsallngoodtime. I believe the auction house is Gunzenhausen auction hall

Well, the piece is listed at the www.versteigerung-gunzenhausen.de site:

I don't know anything about the medal, except that it seems to be gold (Au 986) indeed. And yes, the margrave depicted was indeed the founder of Karlsruhe. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_III_William,_Margrave_of_Baden-Durlach. Karl Wilhelm had the construction of the castle (and thus the core of the city) started in 1715, thus 250 years ago when the medal was issued.
