The rolls of the 2005 Nickels STILL haven't hit the banks around here yet. I'm anticipating their arrival very shortly! But does anybody know a date, or an approx. date when they should hit the banks?
A bank MUST have direct armored car service from the Fed to get them and most banks WILL NEVER see a roll of the new nickel. Our banks transfer change from branch to branch so getting 2005 nickels from them is NOT an option. If you live in a big city your chances are very good but out here in the sticks...well, no hope. We must use the Mint or Ebay!
The local bank around here stated they would be getting rolls in Apr 1st. Im on the edge of my seat. -Bobby
I talked to the President of my bak and asked when they would be getting some. His answer, probably not for a long time. He said my best bet might be to try one of the casinos as they will probably be getting a lot of them. So this weekend, I just might go check out the casino's.
I dont necessesarily live in the sticks. I live in a town with about 300,000 people and like 30 banks. Where do you live? Like in a big city or in in the woods.?
A Texas city of 200,000 with several banks and the new nickels hit town last week-------------and were gone quick! Bank where I trade said they had ordered more, but were not sure they would get them. The ones that did come in were sold to the public with allotment of 3 rolls per person.
Good to see a bank put limits on something that is so much in demand. Many banks will sell them out the back door! Capitalism at its finest!
Out here in this urbin setting, we had the new nickel and they were all sold out in less than a week. So yesterday I ask and sure enough, they were getting another load in this week and would be available on Monday. I guess since those Hoosiers can't find a place in their banks for them, they are bringing all theirs out here. That is the way it is with friends.
Not exactly in the big City, nor in the sticks, we got them in this part of Texas last week. I was fortunate enough to get a roll shortly after they'd been delivered to the bank on my base. By the time lunch was over, they were sold-out.
I live out in the "stix" here in Georgia, and my bank just got the 2005 nickels in March 17th. They limited us to one roll per customer though and the rolls came in clear plastic - is this how most new bank rolls of the nickels come?
I inquired at my bank yesterday, and they said they didn't have any. So I walked across the street to another bank, and they gave me two rolls! I was kind of excited.
I checked 13 banks today with my daughter and only 1 had them. I was able to get 3 rolls. The teller told me she was keeping the other 2 rolls for herself. All D mints
I find myself wondering, "Will we ever see any of the new nickels in pocket change?" I would guess not.
