I have several steel pennies where the 4 is either missing or just barely visable. I don't know if the mint marks are S, D. Does anyone have any idea as to the value? lewisaw
This is quite a common thing as far as war era cents go. The planchets were so hard on the dies that the dies wore out quickly and in most cases it was the 4 in the date. There is no premium since they are so common... Hope that helps.
