Does anyone here collect these? I have a full set of mint issued rolls from the first. I have kept them in the white boxes and unopened. Since my collecting has been so sheltered I wonder if this type of collecting is an Ebay phenominon or is this common? I will admit that I only have the sets for investment purposes and nothing else. I also collect dimes but I have to have them in an album, if I get a new purchase in a slab I break it out asap so I can get hold of it (with gloves of course) and put it in my dansco.
rolls I do save state quarter rolls, but I save bank rolls not mint rolls. The way I see it is they will never be worth less than I paid for them. they may have a lesser chance to increase in value compared with a mint roll, but a mint roll can also go down in value. Besides that I figure the coins all come from the same bins anyhow. Just mho.
I believe that after 2008, the general public isn't going to care about these quarters one bit. As they're released, most people are putting one quarter from each state into an album. Once the album is full, it will be tucked away and pretty much forgotten about by the millions of people who have them. The State Quarters are hot right now. But will it last? Nope, I don't think so. Will the value of rolls of these quarters rise? Probably not. I could be wrong, but remember: There are literally billions upon billions of these quarters and EVERYONE is saving them!
Buck I agree. I purchased a number of rolls from elderly collecting friend last year. He sold me about 70 bank rolls he had put away over the years, mostly D but a number of P from his daughter on the east coast. He was really excited about them and wanted me to have them, at $11.00 a roll across the board. I bought them almost as a favor, but now that he's passed, I'm thinking I should just sell them all. Alot of weight to move around, and I don't see alot of potential.
