Hello again! I just bought a set of 2004-S Silver Proof Statehood Quarters (broken up into cardboard 2x2's). And a 1976-S Bicentennial Silver proof They were 3bucks each ($15 for the set) & 2.25 for the 76-S, and i'm wondering how much silver is actually in them? are they 90%? in which case minimum melt would be 2.35 each? Thank you so much I have looked at pcgs and they say silver but they dont say 90%...Not sure where else to look edit: I believe I have found out that the 76-S is 40% silver. but still unsure about the 2004-S silver proofs
I'm assuming you can tell the difference by the same means as you can with older coins...by looking at the edge. If you see the normal copper sandwich on the edges, it's not a silver coin. I may be wrong about newer coins, however. Guy~
yea I remember finding out that trick after having searched so many dates of quarters and dimes for silver.... you can go through rolls pretty quick... I'm getting a certificate with the set and maybe it will state if they are 90% or not... I just thought i'd ask if anyone knew if the silver meant 90% or 40% or what
Sweet!! Thanks guys I'm stolked on these coins.. I think they were worth 65cents over spot each! I love silver. It's funny I just got rid of my old drummer boy collection i've had forever. 17 drummer boys... within a couple days I buy this drummerboy proof... I guess I was meant to have the coin
