For the last couple of years I have been diligently collecting the state quarters and placing them in my cardboard album. The album is “The United States Commemorative Quarter Collection Millennium Edition”. It has a map of the United States with a hole in each state for the corresponding coin to be inserted. The odd thing though is at the bottom there is a hole labelled “Millennium Coin”. I initially assumed this was referring to the Sacagawea dollar, but the slot is a wee bit too big (about 28mm when the Sacagawea is 26.5mm).

I have often wondered what is supposed to go in here. Any suggestions?

It sounds like the publisher may have issued a medallion of some kind commemorating the new Millenium. Is there a publisher's name and address (or even a website address) somewhere on the album? If so, try contacting them.
