I'm planning on starting to collect PCGS-slabbed Mexican coins to fill out a type set of decimal coins. Holding off on the gold for now. I'm focusing on knocking out the more modern coins and early coppers first. If anyone has made the same or a similar undertaking, I'd like to hear about your experience. Also, since this is my first foray into buying slabbed coins and potentially acquiring some raw to send in myself, I'm curious about any potential pitfalls in that process and aspects of coins to watch out for (positive and negative), as well as solid or often-overlooked places to pick up these coins. Thanks!

I personally have a lot of this type but never tried putting together a registry set. I'd keep a vigilant eye on ebay and even some of the major auction houses for raw coins and something will eventually pop up. I bought all of these raw and submitted them myself. All from ebay or other auction houses. I've also bought some others slabbed.

Also, my experience has been that whatever NGC grades a coin, PCGS will give a higher grade to in the world coin arena.

@kazuma78 Beautiful coins, especially that Oaxaca rectangle! Thanks for the advice!
