Hey guys, I recently started up my Canadian cents, Large and small, and put Lincolns on the back burner, I've decided I need to learn more about those before I go any further. But I feel 100% confident buying high grade Canadian small cents. My collection of these has grown significantly the last while as I have been updating my set to MS RB/RD I have so many Raw early dates, but none IMO worth submitting. I recently started my first registry set, it's embarrassing, I'm on the bottom of the totem pole, with one "lame" coin out of 17. But once I find the funds I will submit some of my high grade ones and jump up a bit on the list. I think I am already catching the "fever" This is the set I am continuously upgrading and working on to get 100% complete. So, bare with me as I set out to find high grade Canadian small cents and while I bore all you American collectors with my latest upgrades. I'm just excited to start a registry finally!! My registry is under the George V Small Cents, Circulation Strikes (1920-1936) area and don't bother looking now, I'm not on the top 15 of course, but keep checking back every now and then and I will be keeping it up to date with pictures! Thanks
You have a cpl tough dates in that set. The Canadian sets pose so much more value vs rarity than the American coins, tho. Just be sure to catch yourself when you get auction itch combined with registry fever.....it can get expensive !! You can blow a wad quick if even one other collector needs the same coin from the same auction, be careful and patient. See you soon, and we will dump our suprise on the CTer's soon
Yeh, I will definitley be careful, I can't afford not to be! I think I'll either take the set slow, and submit some 63/64 slider stuff, or just save for the big cahoney and just hit it hard with 65's and 66's... we'll see. I just wish I could post pictures of the ones I have now that are raw just to get on the list. I've had an itch for IHC's lately too so I'm always keeping my eyes peeled for those! And sounds good!:kewl:
Here we go..... In a recent thread this was mentioned. Folks on a budget looking to build a registry set and paying $12 for a 55-S lincoln. This is the exact reason there is a market and the same reason a level has been established for overpriced coins. YOu cannot put raw coin in a registry. Take a different look at the situation and coinsider the free CoinWorld " registry" . It is not competitive and no scores are computed, but it does allow you to display your collection online. Consider it. It WILL save you a few bucks that could go into those tough mid 20's dates
Good luck - but watch you pocket book. Not too sure just how serious you are planning to go after this, but you might also look at http://coins.www.collectors-society...s.aspx?CategoryID=48&SetTypeID=814&sets=world
haha guess again Spock. Thanks for the link RLM. There's alot less guys putting together a set over there. Not sure how serious I plan on getting? Just watch, I recently sold 4 coins to buy one for my set.
Not quite what I was referring to. If your intent is just to avail your coins to the public, NGC does that as well as PCGS. And, with fewer competitors, they are easier to find on NGC. Since you have 2 companies to pick from, they are easier to find and usually cheaper. The only advantage I see with PCGS is the recognition.
Ahh I see I see, I'll check it out too. Although to be honest... I'm not sure how many Canadian cents I've seen in NGC holders
