I have a question and i wasnt sure where to post it. I just started collecting this month, but a though just ran through my head. About 2 months ago i went to the atm and took out 500.00. i counted it and put it in my pocket. A few days later i noticed that all the bills were stars and in numerical seral number order. well needless to say they are spent now. would that of been worth anything? and a better question in why were they in an atm machine?

Yes sometimes they can be worth much more and sometimes they can be worth nothing more it just matters about the condition
and if it is a more rare block number

Once the BEP replaces faulty notes with stars, the bundles they are in are handled in the same manner as any others. If there happened to be a lengthy group of bad notes printed, their lengthy replacement of star notes will be jumbled in with all the properly printed notes. If the person filling an ATM happens to use new notes, they may turn out to be stars.

    As Hotonai said: random distribution.

Not all tellers are collectors, thankfully, or we'd never find anything!
