can someone please tell me what a "star"note is. i see a lot of posts from people who seem surprised to find them i see them at least once a week in circulation . what does the star mean? are they worth saving ,how much are they worth. thanks
It's simple - a star note has a little star on it next to the serial number. All it means is that the original note with that serial number was destroyed - so they printed a new one to replace it.
and here is the place to look up to see if they are worth anything over face. all you have to do if you find a star note is to go to that site, click what denomination it is, and find the block letter, and see if the serial number falls into the colored box. i keep the ones in the colored boxes and spend the ones in the white boxes for someone else to find. the white ones are only worth face, so it isn't worth keeping them unless they have a cool serial number, or are rare. some people like to keep everyone they find though. good luck on finding some rare ones!:hail:
