I bought this coin that I ran through NCS: 3679845-001. You have to use the verification feature to see the image. Does anyone know if the surface material could still be removed that NCS was not able or willing to remove and would such conservation affect whether it would grade or not? Thanks.

It is always a roll of the dice with NCS. I have had some great results and some not so great results with them. For the most part, I think that they do a great job on silver and gold coins, but I don't bother sending in coppers anymore, they just tend to look unnatural. It is a little difficult to see the coin with much detail from NGC's images (They really need to do a better job with them), so I can't really say if it will receive a number grade after conservation.

It has a film on the reverse and a similar issue on the obverse that I thought would come off with acetone and other solvents they use.
