Could someone please tell me why we buy spouse coins at US mint? We could buy spouse coins with NGC MS70 at Ebay for 490 plus $7.00 shipping. It is even cheaper than American Eagle 2007 in 1/2 oz. Thank you in advanced.
First, there are some of us who buy the First Spouse coins because we want to collect them; not as an investment in precious metal. Second, those prices are still higher than issue price for the first 3 spouse coins and still higher than the melt price of bullion coins. The Dolley Madison coins are not selling for that low a price on ebay because the issue price was higher. When the price of gold exceeds $1,000/oz. if people are still selling first spouse coins for $490, I'll buy them all myself.
