Sorry if this was already asked before, but I would like to know what if any effect that spotting on a cent has to do with the value. For example if I have a very sharp looking Lincoln with very little to no damage and great lettering etc.. but it has 4-6 spots on it is it a waste to get checked out? Or do collectors not care as much about that and it hurts the value very little?

They usually care depending on the quantity, size, location and color.

As Jim said, collectors care. The worse the spots are the more they hurt the value.

    Yes, "eye appeal" affects value.
