Split Roosevelt Dime

    Here is the picture of the split dime that I was told could be:
    something that agents used to transfer microchips or dot from one country to another. Maybe it has who shot JFK in it ya think? Naaa me either. My luck its the recipe for KFC .. : ) :headbang:

    Nice find! I have no idea what that could possibly be,but COOL looking.:thumb: Is the split all the way around the coin? B12

    Well I dunno about that one, but box coins (that's what they call them) have been around for hundreds of years. Some say that they were used to smuggle opium way back when. Others say they were used by spies, pirates and all sorts of, shall we say, less desirable types.

    But there were those that were manufactured for sentimental reasons as well - to keep a picture in like you would with a locket. Some of them even had hinges to make opening & closing them easier.

    And in today's world, they are commonly made as cheap magic tricks. You can start off with a half dollar, have a quarter inside that and inside that have a cent or dime.

    yep. I tried to pry it apart to no avail. Didnt want to ruin 10 cents!

    Looks like someone was trying to saw it in half but gave up.It's probably still one piece.
