I am new to coin collecting but now have the itch. I used to always use exact change when buying something and now never do with hopes of finding something special in my change. This morning in the change back from my coffee I got back 2 1965 us quarters. One is avg normal shape for a circulated coin. The other is very shinny very clean and crisp, don't see a single mark on it, even the edges are still sharp. This coin looks uncirculated but it was in my change. Was there something special they did in 1965 or did I just find a uncirculated coin someone stole out of someone's collection?

    Could be an SMS quarter.
I found a '66 SMS dime once so its entirely possible (probable) that quarters have been dropped into circulation as well.

Does a SMS 65 in almost uncirculated condition have any value? Worth grading kind of value? Any markings on an SMS?

Unless it's a super high grade or Deep/Cameo, it's probably only worth $1-2. Post some pics so we all can see your new find! :)

It's more likely that it's spent much of it's life moving from piggy bank to piggy bank.
If it's BU, or AU, hang on to it. Otherwise, it's a spender.

    Or a quarter.

Depending on condition, and whether there is any wear from circulation.

If there's no wear, these can found for a couple of bucks at most B&M bargain bins.
