spanish 8 maravedis

Its hard to see but it is a 8 maravedis coin ....but the ring of vines or flowers around the outer edge is not on this coin. does anyone know if these cvoins came without the fancy engraving aoiund the edge

It's a deffects of a circulation of this coin. I don't think that someone have spoiled this coin intentionally.
As for a ruler: it is a coin of Ferdinand VII or his daughter Isabel II.

 

yes I think it is the second one as you vcan see the S and the A on the bottom right

if you look close there are alot of nicks on the surface and the other side has no detail and the edges are really jagged

 

Looks like someone hammered it one the one side and the design is totally missing on the other is this how they used to prepare a coin if they planned to restrike it
