I have a small collection of Southern Rhodesia coins including 18 silver pennies (with the hole in the centre) dating from 1934 to 1942, and two silver half pennies (also with hole in the centre) dated 1936. Does anyone have any idea how much these might be worth ?
not the easiest to read this way, but withotu specific dates .. this is the best i can do 1 Penny- Date Mintage F VF XF Unc BU 1934 360,000 0.75 1.50 13.50 25.00 — 1934 Proof — Value: 125 1935 492,000 1.50 15.00 75.00 125 250 1935 Proof — — — — — — 1936 1,044,000 0.60 1.25 13.50 30.00 — 1936 Proof — — — — — — Date Mintage F VF XF Unc BU 1937 908,000 0.60 1.25 13.50 25.00 — 1937 Proof — Value: 300 1938 240,000 1.50 3.00 27.50 50.00 — 1938 Proof — — — — — — 1939 1,284,000 0.45 1.00 23.50 37.50 — 1939 Proof — — — — — — 1940 1,080,000 0.45 1.00 23.50 37.50 — 1940 Proof — — — — — — 1941 720,000 0.50 1.25 24.50 40.00 — 1941 Proof — — — — — — 1942 960,000 0.50 1.25 34.50 65.00 — 1942 Proof — — — — — — Date Mintage F VF XF Unc BU 1942 480,000 4.00 6.50 42.50 100 — 1942 Proof — Value: 400 Half Penny- Date Mintage F VF XF Unc BU 1936 240,000 5.00 40.00 80.00 150 — hope this helps
Thank you daggarjon ! that helps me a lot to understand the rough value ....just one further question : what do the categories F VF XF Unc and BU stand for ? (I presume they refer to the condition of the coins ?)
F - Fine VF - Very Fine XF - Extra Fine Unc - Uncirculated BU - Brilliant Unc. Yep, they all stand for differing grades for the coin. Others you may come across: P - Poor AG - About Good G - Good VG - Very Good
Hi, I have a coin from Southern Rhodesia, it is one silver penny dated 1939 and has on the back George VI King Emperor with a hole in the middle. I couldn't quite make out all of the above, would you be able to tell me how much this is worth? It has been lying in the sand by the Zambezi River for many years. Many thanks
