Thalia Elizabeth and I, along with perhaps millions of others, are completing a "map" of the State Quarters as they are released. We have only one rule, that we've broken only once* that we get these quarters in the ordinary course of living. Usually this has meant getting them at the New York Thruway toll plaza in Buffalo on the way to Niagara Falls, as for some reason that particular toll plaza seems to have a nice supply of new quarters. However, we haven't been that way in a few months, so it's been the more usual methods. And we finally are up to date. Rosemary (my wife) just picked up the SD quarter in change at the local post office. I checked and for the record, it was "only" two months and three days since they were issued! Issue date, November 6, 2006; get in change date, January 9, 2007... Well, better late than never! It looks to be in pretty good shape, like it just came out of a roll, and it will take its place in the map when Thalia Elizabeth gets home from school. ===== *Oh, and the rule breaking was buying a copy of Coin Values and sending in for the free Nebraska quarter. We got one in change before it arrived (at previously noted toll plaza), so maybe even that doesn't count.
How About That !! Small World, umtrr-author, Just finished my circulated State Quarter Collection. Have been collecting them ( sorta' ) since 2000. South Dakota was MY last state too. Mike Edit: and yes I knew the thread was over 2 1/2 years old, but Peter T. Davis asked me to answer it...
