We spent a month trying to convince him that they existed, now he posts one. Maybes he is conceding the point - yea, right!
IMO: Bad lighting aside there are marks on the obverse. 1-Above the bridge of GWs nose (3) 2-Rim mark by E of AMERICA 3-Scratch on R of DOLLAR 4- Cheek looks rough. As I said it may be the lighting. The reverse is too shiny to tell. Bruce
If you can't spot the bag marks in front of his forehead at least, you have no business attempting to grade coins.
I don't see that...seriously and not joking. I see other marks on the coin. I can see it on the original photo which is about 50 times blown up. there what your speaking of is clear http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/11252008/dsc05589.jpg
Obviously, I joke a lot, especially with regard to these common quarters which I pull out of circulation but that mark I absolutely didn't see until I pulled out the original photo. BTW - It is still a GREAT coin to be pulled from circulation. Ruben
So should we assume that professional graders' eye sight varies by the person and they're grading at a distance? Or under 5x? You got a copy of the the ANA 6th edition laying around? Page 24: " MS-70 - The perfect coin. Has very attractive sharp strike and original luster of the highest quality for the date and mint. No contact marks are visible under magnification. There are no noticeable hairlines, scuff marks, or defects. Eye appeal is attractive and outstanding. If copper, the coin is bright, with full original color and luster. Contact marks: None show under magnification. Hairlines: None show under magnification. Luster: Very attractive. Fully original. Eye Appeal: Outstanding." Page 19, last line: " The presence or absence of bag marks is an important guide to the various grades of Mint State from MS-60 (usually with numerous bag marks) to MS-70 (theoretical perfection, with no marks at all)."
Along with billions of others that people have stuck in albums or sitting in banks. They SHOULD still be in excellent condition. It's only 2 years old. Not worth posting IMO. It's not that uncommon to get state quarters that are still in excellent condition.
this one was better than the hundreds I'd seen. I probably pull about one coin week from change. Anyway ... just wait. 5 years from now Cladking will be clammering for this coin in high grade Ruben
