South African Coins

Does anyone here know anything about South African Coins? I found a coin (at a hotel in Disney World) from South Africa, a 2 rand coin. I looked it up in the standard catalog of world coins, and there were two coins that almost matched. The date on the coin is 2000. In the SCWC it shows 1996-2000 with one design, and 2001- with a slightly different design. The coin I have is dated 2000 but is of the 2001 design.

I'm trying to find out if this is a hole in the catalog, or just a strange coin.

I've got a couple of them from South Africa. Don't know anything about them other than the dollar was worth 6 Rand at the time that I was over there in 2004. They have some cool money.
