I was at the last FUN Show in January and at one of the coin supplies vendor's areas I saw a display of slab inserts similar to the one shown below of a NGC slab. I did not make a note of the manufacturer nor the vendor at that time. I am looking for this type of pronged insert for my raw coins so that they can be stored in album pages in the same size and manner as the TPG-slabbed coins in the collection. I can't find anything of the type at Wizard. I have tried the black foam inserts and the dark green hard plastic inserts and am not satisfied with either. Anyone have a suggestion?
We crack out lots of NGC prong slabs for crossover. The inserts go into the trash. Want me to save some?
That is most generous of you, @Insider. But I can't help but believe that there is a vendor that makes the complete three part system that I'm looking for.
There is an eBay seller from China that has them. I have never ordered them but know someone that has with success.
The company is PCCB and the product is called PCCB coin display slab. They are available on ebay, or if you google it you will find a couple of Chinese companies selling them including our good ol seller of counterfeits site. No guarantees from me but this seems to be about the best price $18 for 10 slabs. Thanks everyone for your help. I checked out PCCB on eBay and Amazon and they are all shipped from China and are offered at wildly varying prices. I have a philosophical objection to buying from China if I can help it so I think I'll hold off on it for now. But it got me to thinking again about buying a 3-D printer and making my own inserts. It wouldn't be hard and the first one would cost me about $800. Sounds like a good deal!
