Can anyone suggest a reasonable source for purchasing uncirculated Silver Eagles? In my Dad's collection that I recently inherited he had a few...coupled with the few that I already had, makes for an incomplete set. I'd love to fill in the gaps as these are one of my favorites. I'm looking for brilliant white(?), no toning, etc. If this is an improper type of topic for this forum, please let me know. I don't want to test the rules here...simply looking for help finding a decent deal on these beauties. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Robin
Robin, In case you don't see my post on the CU forum, here it is again. Look up finderskeepersofomaha on eBay. Many MS and PR SAE's. Done business with Vern, the seller, and a very nice guy. David
joesmom, Most of your local dealers in your area will have them. The price is based primarily on bullion, so all of us (dealers) will be selling near the same price. If you can't find a dealer in your area, PM me and I will send you the names of some others near the DFW area.
I find that my local dealers prices are usually the best for ASE. Sometimes a web dealer might have prices a shade cheaper, but by the time you add in shipping it's a wash. And, even if the local dealer's price is 10% higher, I still prefer to buy from him because 1) I try and support my local dealers to keep them around, and 2) you can examine the coin before you buy it. If your local dealer doesn't have a particular year ASE that you're looking for, then the web sites and mail order get more attractive. I like Skyline (no web site; look for their ads in the magazines) for ASE and I also like the prices at Silver Eagle Coin Company http://www.silver-eagle-coins.com/ I just bought a World Coin silver one-ounce set from them (China, Australia, ASE, Canada, Mexico) for $60 (and no shipping charge) and they came with Air-Tites and mounted in an Air-Title album page. Just my 2-cent piece.
