baxtr, the coin looks like a 20 Flis from Iraq, the date would be 1931 or 1933 with Faisal I on the obverse.

As LSM states, it is indeed a 20 fils from Iraq with the obverse of king Faisal I. The date is 1931.

Oh....this looks similar to quite a few coins I have.

Ones i have no idea where theyre from.

I'll make a thread in a few min with them and some other of my unknown coins in it.

Thanks all, found a pic of a 50 fils on ebay, looks the same except for the center inscription, I assume that would be the denomination.

    thanks again

    Correct!

What looks like a backward 7 on yours is an Arabic 2, and the dot after it is an Arabic 0. The 5 on the one you saw on EBay should lok like an irregular 0, with an opening at the upper left.

I have a silver dollar size (almost) 200 fils (ryal) coin with King Faisal on it.

Faisal I was the buddy of Lawrence of Arabia and was played by Alec Guinness in the movie.
Faisal wanted to be king of (Saudi) Arabia but the British dumped Iraq on him instead.
He moved to Switzerland and died there.

The coin is also dated AH1349 as well as 1931.It pays to look at the number chart in the front of Krause to translate the figures.

    Aidan.
