    Lots of metal around the D. The doubling seems to be mechanical. Thoughts? PICT0193.jpg

    Most likely Reprocessed Cent. That's how they look when that is done.

    Or just a Die Deterioration strike. Deterioration doubling.
    Worthless doubling.

    I agree with Ed/CN. Note that besides the die wash on the mintmark, the die wash is also notable in the date. The wash typically favors the direction from center towards the rim. This is where outer devices tend to blend with the rim, including die attrition about the outer periphery.
