My dear mother had an old Irish saying "expect nothing, but be happy with what you get" I have always respectful of her words....after all she was my mum...and I learned a lot in life from my mum. I personally do not celebrate the holidays....I believe that giving should be year round. Not just 1 day, or week out of a year. Well I just received a nice gift in return from a member here on CT. You may recall that JeffC won a few coins from a post I had made. He was very grateful as I am now for his friendship, and his talents on the computer. I self slab many of my half dimes, as many would not grade without details, and I personally like attribute ,and slab my collection. Noting any varieties that are important in the series. I have used a P~ Touch label maker, hand written tags.... but Jeff shared some of his talents with me which gave me an idea. Now before I go on let me say" Thank You Jeff "as you made my month! I asked him to do a professional looking label for my self slabed coins. Esspecially my half dimes. Now he has gone the extra mile thinking ,tweaking my ideas to make these labels. Please see below his "Test version" to my eye I'm so pleased with this test version...that I don't see room for improvement! I sent him my ideas, some images of half dimes from 1829-1837 cap bust, as well as each type variety of the seated series like 7 obverses and 3 reverses. I just wanted to share this with you as sometimes you give ,and get nothing.. and not that one should give to recieve something back! Yet there's a time another gives You back Everything in their power to do something special for you. Sometimes it's materialistic other's its just time and their talents. Thank you again JeffC you made my month again.......I cannot express in words how much I appreciate your hard work. I'm sure other members here will appreciate this once they view the finished product below in my images. I do intend to compensate Jeff for all his time spent....I wanted to share this with the members here for more than one reason. Should you need some computer graphics, or have a project that you just are not as talented to complete, JeffC is your go to guy! He has thought about everything ,and worked on making this project so special....and you young man have all my respect ,and gratitude for your talents as well conducting yourself as a mature outstanding member of this community! @JeffC Two Thumbs up !
Jeff and I have some history of trades etc.....I can attest to him being a stand up guy! I have sent some coins he's needed over the years, and he sends me his old Numismatic magazines the end of every year, and I really enjoy them. He has offered his label making skills to me, but as of yet I haven't needed them, but I know he is really talented in that regard, as the work he did for you shows! So a personal Thank You to @JeffC for being a great guy!
That's what I love about CT. The education of course, but the generosity of the members. Kudos to Jeff and others that give of their time to other members (LordM certainly comes to mind).
You know Mr. Q One needs to give it back, so many takers in this world I feel sorry for them,as I have received so much more from giving ,than I ever felt in reciving. And like my mum be happy that someone thought of you enough to do something be it large or small it's a gift in itself.... it's the thought that counts.....no one leaves this world any richer than they came.....not by material means that is..... he with the most toys....usually leaves them to someone else...
Hi @Paddy54! Sorry – I haven’t logged in for a few days. Thanks for your kind words. I’m really glad to see that the sample labels fits! But please (!!!) don’t use those! LOL. What you’ve got are just quick samples, only to confirm the size and the general placement of words and images. The images are lo-res and blurry. The shamrock edges are sloppy. When this is finalized, I’ll mail you the actual labels on cardstock, all trimmed and ready. The final version will be crisp and sharp – more like this below. I just have 2 final questions. 1) Are all the Variety Names and where they appear on the label okay? (See sample one above) 2) Since varieties do not have their own specific mintage numbers, is my use of “Part of…” acceptable? When I have your okay, I’ll send them off to you in the mail later this week. Also, let me know if there’s anything else you want changed. Then next, we move on to your Seated Liberty Half Dimes! This is not all work for me. I’m learning a bit about the different varieties as I go along.
