New silver Coast Guard medal arrived today. A good mate for my old 3" Coast Guard medal......... This dang thing was a devil to photog. I'm still not satisfied with the results. Anywho, the theme here is to post something 'old' ya got in the past, along with something similar ya got fairly recently........capisci?
I too like the 'cutter' slicing through the water, but the symbolism of the 'life preserver' has long been an emblem of the Coast Guard service. To omit it would be contrary to the duties they perform.
As you can see, my knowledge is lacking in that area. Thanks for explaining the coin as it makes more sense.
