Something from 1567?

    Have not been able to ID this. Anyone know what it is?

    I believe it is a Nurnberg Jeton. I don't have the books for these, but if you google the legend "Pietate et Ivstitia" you may be able to find a match.

    You may be right about Nuremburg, I've found similar images for the one side that seem to connect there. It's the Hercule side I'm have no luck matching up anywhere. Ah well, the search continues. I have very few books (on coins) but perhaps this will show up on the internet one day.

    Check your local public library for Jetons, Medalets & Tokens Vol 1 The Medieval Pd. & Nuremberg, a 1988 British publication by Dr. Michael Mitchiner. If they don't have it, they may be able to get it on an inter-library loan.

    Also, if you are an ANA member, check their lending library list.

    Thanks for the title. I'll have my (Prof. Dr.) wife see if she can get it through U. Ottawa's library. Wow! a $175 book and that's just the first volume
