...an absolutely crisp, uncirculated $10 Federal Reserve Note (1950) in his register the other day. Doesn't seem to be worth all that much over face value ($20 - $35, maybe), but still...what a lucky guy.
Heh. Don't be so sure, hugo. When I was seventeen, I was riding my bicycle through an old part of town, wondering how I was going to pay for my upcoming senior prom. Waiting at a stop light, I noticed a $20 bill in the street and picked it up. I was a nerd then, too, so I noticed it was a 1950 B series, well obsolete by the time I found it. It was in good shape, and I wondered where it might have come from. Looking around, I saw a house across the street was being torn down. Thinking the $20 might have come from there, I went over and began poking through the rubble. Sure enough, there was a stash of notes in a nook in the brickwork, over $300, all various 1934 and 1950 series $10's and $20's. I had a really good prom.
Saw where I work a crisp unciruclated $20 bill from 1950... really wished I had the $20 to buy it out of the drawer, lol... it ended up leaving the store as part of somebody's cash back with their purchase. I pointed it out to the guy that left with it, hope he saved it, but he probabl just spent the thing.
