I added a some notes to my Mexico and Mongolia pages today. My Sri Lanka page was completely empty until the notes i posted today. Mexico - Added P-59j, P-59k, P-62c, P-64c, P-64d, P-67a, P-67b, P-68a, P-68b, P-68c and P-74a Mongolia - Added P-52, P-53, P-54, P-55, P-62 and P-63 Sri Lanka - Added P-102, P-108, P-117b and 6 other notes not yet listed in the Krause publications. One of my favorite notes posted today is the Mexican note P-59. Take a close look at the underprint around the central component! The colors and organic structure is mesmorizing... well, at least i think so One thing i learned today while researching the vingettes on the notes -- Alot of notes from Asian countries have a stone statue that looks like a lion. The Krause books label this as a Chinze. I have never been able to find much information about the Chinze, but today found a small refference on a US military page (which was talking about its coat of arms) about the Chinze being a refference to a Buramese lion. Looking of that, i found another site that called it by another name of Chinthe. Following this trail and searching for information on the term Chinthe, i found alot of information. One of the pages talking about the Chinthe was a page that gave this little story As in most fables or myths, i dont know how much of this is factual, as a princess having children with a lion is pretty far fatched. But we also know most fables and myths, regardless of how far fetched they are today - almost all have some basis in fact. Thanks for looking If time, and my back permits (behing hunched over the PC for two days straight is a bit painfull), i might be able to post more notes today
Interesting fable, DJ, but I have a hard time imagining a single bit of that would have basis in fact! :hatch: Dave
Cool story DJ.. Nice notes as well...so when are you going to add a Note "Total" to your site?? Man how many is there now?? 2-3 thousand?? Great job and the site is top notch... RickieB
Why RickieB there is a note total on my site, as well as a coin total. Its right on the main page Right in the center, the currency total is right above the random generated image of a note, and the coin total is right above the same random image of a coin tis sad to say, my coin total is nothing compared to my currency note lol but even then, my currency collection is much much lower then alot of others on this forum
I would have to say that the Mexico 5 pesos note with the Gypsy senorita is the one I that I like. Lou
You know... you are right...I am always clicking on the links and not the home page...duhhhh feel like I made a boo boo..LOL Duly noted and stored within the ole gray matter!! RickieB
I was more thinking the 'lion' would more refer to a champion warrior like man. This warrior went crazy with the departure of the princess, and years later, the son killed the warrior. Could be soemthign like that, or somethign completely different - That is what i meant by some basis in truth No worries RickieB, less then 5% of the visitors to my site enter it through the front door lol I do notice a large uptick of visitors to the main page after i post update threads like this - i often wonder if its folks trying to be the first to update those totals lol I never update them myself, so they only get updated when a visitor does it Tonights posted total stands at 1032 files. Its actually short 6, because as my records stand, i should have 1038 files posted. I will have to look at things to see whats going on there
