Here is what I believe is part of a medal. It has 4 marks on the back and I was just wondering if any one knew what the medal was for or what the symbols mean. On top there are 3 one is an anchoe one is a lion (maybe Belgium) and the last is a g. On the bottom is W.A. Any help is appreciated.

I believe they are hallmark symbols, but what company they stand for I have no idea.

Well the anchor is the mark for Birminghan (UK) and the Lion means sterling silver, unfortunatly I cant make out the last of the three which would give you the date :( The lower mark would be that of the maker

Hope that this is of some help :)

If that is W.A then it stands for William Aitken who opperated in Birmingham in the first quarter of the 20th century, and if that last letter is as I think a 'G' that would date it to 1906 (I think LOL)

The initials are WA and it is a G.
