Some pictures of my CoinFest additions...

  1. Being a low-end collector, my new additions are probably nothing to most people on here but I enjoy them and that is the only reason to buy them, right?
I ended up with a handfull of uncirculated or nearly so Mercury dimes from my friend Larry at Sea Eagle coins. This is a 38 but I also got a couple of the 1940s examples. I had not had ANY uncirculated silver before, so these are kind of unusual in my collection.
Sorry the pic blurred a little...looked better until I cropped them down...

I ended up bringing home 12 Barber dimes from the show. Before I left I had a grand total of 6 Barber coins from all denominations combined. (1 half, 2 quarters and 3 dimes)
This dime is the best condition of the new examples. Another find from Larry's Under $20 box!

In addition to the 12 dimes, I also nabbed three Barber quarters. (all from Larry). This is the example with the best look.

Yet another find from Larry's under $20 box...The best Liberty V nickel I have EVER seen. 1883. The obverse photo came out too blurry to post. Before I bought this example I had never seen one in person that retained the Liberty on the obverse!

This 1951 D half came from a dealer in the secondary room. I BELIEVE I can safely credit it's purchase to Clayton Rare Coins, where it formerly resided in the 30% off price marked bin...again, the Obverse picture is too blurry to post...

I know this picture is really lousy, but I want to share at least one example of the Buffalos I bought. These two came out of the $1 bin at the Coins of Merritt table. The left coin is 1920, the right is 1930. The 20 is now my oldest Buffalo. I brought home 7 Buffalo nickels, the second highest totals for designs...all are well circulated but still retained a full date (pretty much my only requirement of adding them to my collection!)

And...one final picture...My first EVER coin show addition to my collection, Rick Snow's store card! This is uncropped, cropping it made it blurry...you can see that I used the bottom of my camera case as a background, placed on the hood of my Jeep :)

    Thanks for looking!

Very nice purchases. The 1916-D is my favorite of that group. I have a few of Rick Snow's "cents" in my collection. They're pretty neat.

Looks like you made some good buys, those all look like quality coins to me. Congrats!

  8. Thanks for the comments, guys! They may not be high priced items but I think it just goes to show you don't have to spend a lot of money to have fun :)

I just wish all my pictures came out the way I wanted to, I will try and shoot some more in the near future, maybe just getting clearer pictures of the blurry examples here (like the obverse of the Franklin half!)

What is it about looking at 'em even if they do belong to someone else? Nice!!

Good job, Billy. I know you prepared for the show and obviously went home with a lot of coins you were looking for.

I was at CoinFest Friday (as I mentioned in another post) and only made one purchase but scoped out a few things I wanted to see in hand. Other than the traffic (I should be able to get to Stamford in about an hour and my trip up was more like two hours), a good show.

Nice additions I too believe that this should be fun and buy what you like. I don't have any Gold coins but I still like the ones I have. I have one of those 1883 no cent Liberty Nickels and enjoy seeing them everytime that is a nice one you added. Also like yourself to add a buffalo to my album it only needs a good date. I have a few that are real nice but I enjoy the ones in the album. You did a great job in my opinion sounds like you new what you wanted and found it. I'll be sending the LP3D cent to you they are just now hitting this area so i am on the lookout. Take care and good hunting.
