If anyone watched the Klondike mini-series out earlier this year, you will remember a clever hiding spot for precious metals in this story.
I have seen such rooms in the past. While fun, never rely on them for things like valuables. Things like that eventually get talked about. Always rely on a sdb or a good safe properly installed. Coin collections are simply incredibly condensed stored of value. I do not even consider myself a "serious" collector versus other people I know, and my sdb, between pm and coins, has to be north of $100k nowadays. I am not saying that to brag, just point out how much value can be in a very small space. Jewelry and coin collections are the JACKPOT to thieves.
Now just forget about it, move out and I'll get an awesome surprise when the new owner calls me out to fix the "outlet" that doesn't work.
