I Thought I would share a few of my large cent purchases from last week. I will post more if I get the time. Enjoy!
I was posting them from my phone. I have a hard time figuring out this stupid smartphone. Most likely the operator.
The second coin has caught my interest. you may have bid against me on that one. It seems to be S-164 but the closeness of the date on the obverse just doesn't set well. Also, the reverse looks right except for the stem to the berry at the top inside left "O(N)" which appears to connect above the center of the berry. It just doesn't say YES - I AM S-164 to me. But I can't find a better match for either obverse or reverse.
That coin was in a new holder at the Central States show. I busted it out of a details holder soon as I left the show. I'm away from my house waiting on my next grandchild to be born. My reference books are at home. I will let you know what I think.
The 1803 appears to be an early Die State of S-261 before the crack appears between 8 and 0. But the reverse clash marks are not there either, so the S-261 precedes at least some of the S-260s or the reverse was ground down to remove those clash marks.
