    what does the "sample" mean?

It's a sample slab, used to show off the company's product (the slab itself).

Sample means just that....sample. Lots of times, when you attend major coin shows, you'll see the major TPG'ers handing out examples of their newest generation of 'slab' technology. There's a ton of them out there so they can be fun to add to a collection.

AND........these are usually given away by the Grading Services at Large coin shows.

The next time you're around a large show, stop by the TPG tables and ask if they have any Sample Slabs. You should get there early though.

You guys should read his article a little closer. It means more than just "sample". Sometimes it can be a sample slab, a promotional slab and or both. I have learned a great deal from reading Alans articles and recommend you guys to read and comment on his articles. http://samplecoinslabs.com/index.html/category/sample-slab-guides/

The sample slabs with world coins in them is one of my favorite articles.

    Thanks for the nice comments.
Also thank you tonedcoins for recommending my articles.
I put so much work into them, it is so nice and rewarding to me to have someone recommend my articles as reading material.
    All the best

I went to my first coin show yesterday in Oklahoma City. Not a large coin show and no free sample slabs but I like the idea behind them. Kind of like a different variety.
