I got some nice stuff today, wondering what its worth. A nice 1936 FB MS-60 for 5 dollars A neat 1943 D MS-64 FB dime. (for those who dont know, both are merc) Edit: the 1943 D cost me 7 bucks. Then, I really needed 20 album pages which each hold 20 2x2 coin flips. 80 cents a page, that was 16, I know I payed 20 cents over jpscorner, but shipping would be 9.95 so I payed less then jpscorner with shipping, and without waiting, and I got 2 half dollar tubes (square, really nice!!!) for some clad and biccentenial which my mom says I shouldnt spend. So, for the mercs did I do well?
On the Mercs, are they professionally graded? If so, what company? If not, are these "your" grades or the person you bought them from's grades?
whats the point if you know the coin, and the grade? Anyways heres some pics: I posted a pic of how the album looks with some coins:
Because it's not professionally graded. Therefore the stated grade means nothing without good photos for verification. A '43-D MS64 FB should look like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1943-D-10c-PCGS-MS64-FB-Mercury-Dime-/190793008826?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item2c6c2646ba
mine looks aLot better, as the reverse is nearly perfect, full blazing mint luster, and great eye appeal. there is so slight scratches that i need a magnifier to notice, and is quite fabulous, although the obverse has an annoying small black dot, looks like a dirt blemish, but it is small and not close to devstating, so if that is true do you think MS-64 is too low, without that annoying mark it might grade MS66+, since it has unnoticeable hairlines, just ever so faint. Looks alot like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1943-D-MERC...35?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item337eb2af0f besides the annoying mark on obverse.
Could you give an opinion based on the photos you provided? Of course not, so how could we. That said, even with the very poor images I question the actual condition of the coin. Remove the coin from the binder page and 2x2 to rephotograph and you might get some meaningful answers.
Yes, it will make a difference. Also, in most cases the camera is less the problem than the person using it, so with a little ingenuity and time, you should easily be able to produce an acceptable image. Doing so is an absolute must if you want people to help you.
Does it have a "macro mode"? Is it on? If it isn't, it should be for photoing coins, from experience and anyone else I have ever heard on the subject.
Never heard of an Alphabetic-Numeric grading scale before..... oh well. Antarctica. Lol, I had a teacher once that would get all bug-eyed and have veins pulsating on his face if the C wasn't enunciated.
