Here are a few more coins I recently acquired that Todd just photographed for me. I have a nice 1897 "1" in the neck (MS64), but happened across this one so I bought it as an upgrade.... I also got this cool "error" in the auction. I know the story about the guy from the mint actually creating these, but I think they are really interesting, and I love the toning on this particular one.... This is just the scarcer type 1860 (pointed bust) that I needed for my collection. It is very pretty with blazing luster, and has a great strike. To me, this is one of the prettiest and incricately designed Civil War Tokens - I bought this one raw and sent it to be graded (yes, I know they spelled "Draped" wrong).... I also bought this one raw from Fred Weinberg - I haven't seen to many CWT errors and thought this one was pretty neat.... This is just a very pretty and somewhat scarce Conder token I bought in Boston from Jerry/Yellowkid (I was surprised he parted with it since it's so pretty and hard to find this nice). Todd really captured its eye appeal....
Wow PL, you sure can pickem' My fav is the 1860 Pointed Bust. It's easily the nicest I've seen. :thumb:
Did you catch the NGC error on you CWT? Interesting date. BTW, was that coin done with corroded dies?
Oh yes, it's already in my box to go back to NGC, along with the CWT "Drapped" Flag! And yes, that would be my guess too about the rusted dies.
Errors aren't my thing. Cool coins nonetheless! That conder token is very neat! I love some of the designs on these coins, and that one is both interesting design wise and quite a looker too! Thanks for sharing...Mike
