I am trying to find someone I can team up with on sending a weird half I found at the bank into NGC to get it graded and find out exactly what it is. I have no B&M shop in Charleston so I was wondering if any of you were sending some coins into NGC that I could Piggy back. Of course, I will cover all cost getting the coin to you, graded, and back to me. Let me know Thanks Here is a link to the original thread http://www.cointalk.com/t115318/
Go to Google and search on the words coin dealer charleston. I came up with about 8 hits, but I don't think all of them are exactly what you want. But there were 2 or 3.
It shows shops here in Charleston but none of them are brick and mortar. They are internet shops baised out of Charleston that have no store as of yet so they will not submit coins for people.
I may be wrong, but I think with NGC if you join collectors society(even the free membership) you can submit coins directly. Check on their website.
My membership is free since I'm an ANA member. And I have submission privileges. Is there another way of getting a free membership?
I can submit coins directly but they have a minimum of 5 coins per submission if I am reading the form correctly. I dont ahve 5 coins to get graded and that is why I am asking for some help.
I know that shrek but there is a minimum of 5 coins and I only have one. That is why I am having the problem
Yes, directly through NGC. This membership entitles you to their monthly newsletter and access to NumisMedia Price Guide, the NGC Registry, Cert Verification, and Membership sales. The NGC submission privilege is free through the ANA, but you still have to pay the ANA membership fee. This one offered directly by NGC costs nothing. Chris
Yes - anyone with an ebay User ID can also submit to NGC. But a way to submit is not the guys problem. You have to submit at least 5 coins - he only has 1. And Chris - what free membership through NGC are you talking about ? There is none that I am aware of.
Let me put all the speculation to rest. NGC offers a free membership, but that membership does not include direct submission priveleges. The Associate membership costs $40 a year and grants you submission priveleges. The Premium membership which costs $110 also gives you 5 free Early Bird submissions. You can also have direct submission priveleges without having an NGC membership if you have an ANA membership, as NGC is the official grader of ANA, and they have a relationship. Now, not all tiers of service require a 5 coin minumum. For example, if you opt for the Early Bird service @ $30/coin, you do not need a minimum of 5 coins. However, if you opt for the Economy service @ $16/coin, you DO need a minimum of 5 coins. Hope these facts help.
Well, when you click on that link did you notice that there is no Direct Submission with the free membership ?
RE: NGC Membership, if you want to submit 5 early birds, the the premium membership more than pays for itself, yes?
So what ever happened with this coin? From the other thread it appears that Lost Dutchman was going to submit it back in July. Was it ever submitted and if so what was NGC's opinion?
I never received the coin to send in. I forwarded my information but it never showed. I guess he found someone else to do it or did it himself... or not.
