This was found in a coin book purchased at estate sale, but unlabeled. Can make out "FIRST IN WAR FIRST IN PEACE" on bottom front, with wigged bust facing right. Eagle facing left on back. Doesn't stick to a magnet. Smooth sides. The book did contain coins as far back as 1832, if that helps. Thought it was just a gas station token, but doesn't match any I've seen. Thanks in advance for any help! ~Paradise
I don't know what it is, but I can tell you it's not a coin. It's a token/medal. Also that style of eagle was popular around the late 1840s-1850s.
I might be able to provide some additional info on this token (ID #, manufacturer, etc) as I have a reference book on pre-1900 presidential campaign tokens. I am in China for another week, but will try to remember looking this one up when I get back to the states.
