Soldier spearing fallen horseman

I have a very beat-up Roman and, after some very hard scrutiny, I was able to make out the soldier-spearing-fallen-horseman on the reverse. The coin is in such bad shape, though, that I can't attribute it.

Perusing the Wildwinds site leads me to believe that this design was only used in the Fourth Century, with Constantine I and his successors. Is this correct?

I took a couple of pictures of the coin, and I might post them here to see if anyone with more experience can narrow it down farther, but I haven't yet looked to see is the pictures came out.

That sounds about right. Here is another great link with some pictures near the bottom which might help you out.

If you post it I can probably ID is...Constantine, Constans, Constantius, and beyond used this theme quit often. If you can make out a mint mark that would help as well...but I wouldnt mind taking a look at it.

Thanks for the responses. Here are pics. One may pick out the "CONST" on the obverse, but that's it for me. So I know it's Constantine I, or Constantine II, or Constantine III, or Constans, or Constantly Annoyed by his Siblings, or...etc.

Like I said, it's in awful shape, but I hate the idea of just labeling it "Roman bronze."

well, remind me to watch my words next time :) because I have to say there is little to go on. Looks like there is a T below in ex on the reverse and I see the CONST. I believe it is Constantius II or Constans....this reverse is very common for these 2...If I had to bet on it I would say constantius II...I'll pass the pics on to some others that might be able to better verify and see what they say.

    Hello,

From the shape of the head, it could be Constans or Constantius II or Constantius Gallus (you can read CONST on the left side)
From the lenght of the legend before what must be PF AVG (the obverse legend always ends like that at this period) there is room enough to "read" TIVS
I think this fellow wears a diadem which excludes Constantius Gallus

So my guess is Constantius II

    Hope it helps

yeah, I agree, probably a Constantius II and the T in ex probably means its from Trier or Thessalonica I got a second opion and he concurs.
