The society of Incas was formed in Valenciennes, France in 1826. Dressed as "savage" Peruvians, members of the charitable society held a Carnival parade on Ash Wednesday, distributing food and items to the poor as well as collecting money for their charitable cause of helping the poor. Photograph of Jean-Baptiste Meurisse, King of the Incas, 1866 in costume. A recent auction win, this medal is graded PCGS AU55. Struck for the 1840 Parade, medals of other years are available as well, I love this token for several reasons. I'm mainly a world collector, I love exomunia, the piece was affordable and I learned something new!
