The society of Incas was formed in Valenciennes, France in 1826. Dressed as "savage" Peruvians, members of the charitable society held a Carnival parade on Ash Wednesday, distributing food and items to the poor as well as collecting money for their charitable cause of helping the poor. Struck for the 1840 Parade, medals of other years are available as well, I love this token for several reasons.
