Nice write up so far Eng, I'm so sorry that I won't be able to make the show, it sounds like you guys are having a great time!
Interesting that people are buying copper. I have bags of pre 1982 cents as well as bags of wheat ears I got many years ago. My wife wanted me to return all to the bank. Is that stuff worth anything? Still not sure why people would buy a .1 oz copper 45 acp when one can go to the bank and buy a roll of cents and find about 10% copper ones per roll. Is there something I'm missing? In Nov or Dec of 2013 I went to the bank and in $11 of halves (22 pcs) only 1 piece was NOT silver. 6 of them were 90%, the rest 40% and I got one Walker & one Franklin from that stash. Two weeks later I went to the bank & asked for halves. The teller told me someone bought all except one which was too dark & ugly. I bought it & it was a 1967 (40% silver). In FL, I think these things are worth nothing which is why people still circulate them.
Nice pics.......do you sell any coins here? have any of you guys ever come to any UK coin fairs? Its the York coin fair at the moment.
It's like being a kid in a candy store. The last show I went to I would think I wanted a coin but wait till I looked around. The next table I found something I wanted even more. And so on.
Hi Eng => wow, it looks like you're in your element, wallowing in coins and having a great time (I'm glad that retirement is treatin' you well, my West Coast comrade) Eng => the 49ers versus Seahawks game isn't until later in the day ... I grew-up in BC, gazing across at Washington State, so I've always followed the Seahawks (Zorn => to Largent)... but although I really like Seattle and I admit that they have a great team this year, I will be cheering against them today, because my favourite team has always been San Fran!! (Eng, good luck at your coin-show and good luck in today's football game ... I will be thinking of you, my friend) Cheers
Thanks for the nice comments, i was so tired last night i dropped like a rock. when you go to a coin show you only have this much money, when your buying moderns, world, ancient coins you have to spread your Green out, first you make a list, find the coins that speak to you and remember there's another show next month. Chris you have the beers after... Gallienus, funny thing when one person see's them buying the copper, it starts a mob, every one then wants one, there not buying for the bullion, there cheap, cool lookin'. you show a roll of copper cents, no big deal. Vlaha, i'm going to the PNNA this fall we'll have to meet up... YOC, no i don't sell them here, but i have been buying a lot lately.. Steve my friend yeaterday we had a beautiful sunny day in the NW, today will be the same. Man that was long ago Zorn, Largent, but it was great football. you guys and gals have a great day and i'll take a few more pictures, give you my update to night...
Cool thread and enjoyable. But man some of the prices on common ancients like a Faustina, Gordian III and some others, they remind me of a certain ebay mark upper. Could that be why you only sold one? Not trying to diss, just pointing something out on a few.
