The following bronze coin strongly attracted me because it's so "new" to me. I've never encountered such an Emperor whose name starts with Kornel. The reverse shows a palm branch and a person holding something interesting in his right hand. The coin weighs 8.53 g. Hope someone could help recognize both figures on this coin. Thank you.
"Empress", not "emperor." Cornelia Salonina, better known as Salonina, wife of Gallienus, on a coin of Roman Alexandria, year 12. The reverse has Elpis, the Roman SPES.
Yep, she's holding a flower and raising the hem of her skirt. Very cool "new" coin, Charles! And nice ancient Greek translation!
