I didn't know that one had a DDR but it looks like one to me.

 

Dennis, I'm not the best, or worst, at finding these errors, but for the life of me I can't find the clip. Nor the DDR for that matter either.

Please help me at least with the clip. That should be obvious.

 

I can't see the clip but the DDR is in MONTICELLO.

 

Still lost on that. Monticello the name or Monticello the building? I can't see it in either place

well I don't blame you. The clip, ever so minor is hard to find, but if you look at the reverse by "OF AMERICIA" I think that's the spot.
Also check "Monticello" the DD is noticeable on the "LL"

Golly gee, I must be thick. Either I'm blind or that's some serious reaching to find any doubling there. Maybe if the pic was less blurry I could blow it up a bit to see it.

No, not at all. It doesn't jump out, and it's in F12 condition, but the separation is there. Better photos will show it better.

The old Anacs soap bars were all over the place with grades, varieties as well detailed coins. Over the years. I've always sought out these at shows to cherry pick. A lot of varities are noted on the slab . As well a lot of details given on small sratches or crossion that over the years wouldn't be something that would detail a coin . Ive had 4 buffalos nickels taken from these slabs that did grade.
Next is nickels in general esspecially war nickels the 1943 P has over 73 known RPM's alone, as well all the Doubled Dies, and the other known varieties for the date.
Shield nickels it been said that there are more undiscovered varieties than known.

The trouble is most arent major known varieties .
I have a lot of respect for John Wexler but some of the varities are so insignificant that they are just about worthless to any premium over face.

My brain hurts but I’m learning. Lol. It’s really interesting of all errors, fine coins, lost etc. It’s amazing and the people that just do not know or care for coins put them in the penny plates at registers. That’s how I found a W. I did swap it out with them. Thanks for the lessons.

 

Research, for the numismatic education, classification, identification and cataloging, does not have to be a premium $ issue, to be of importance. The weird thing is, when the research is done, it has an impact on $ value, even though that was and is not the basic reason for numismatic scholarship.

I am one of the old sigh club, that thinks too much emphasis is placed on $ value in the hobby.

For me, looking through my dad’s coins, all is going to my son. I think it’s interesting and I look at all coins that all have a story. If that makes sense.
