I finally started drinking the kool aid. I saw this coin today and I had to have it. BABY BLUE!! How often have you ever seen that color on anything????

I took 2 pictures of the obverse one with direct light and one with diffused light to show both aspects of the color. The coin is also PL... So toning guru's How'd I do?

I wonder if the term "too much toning exists". Probably not. :)

    Nice coin.

Looks like a great coin with awesome eye appeal....I don't know how much moon money is to you but I would think it would take a solid toning premium to acquire that coin.

Shane, do you remember the one that Ron Sirna had in his collection that year at FUN that was totally baby blue on one side? Naturally, like all of his other toners, it wasn't for sale.

    Matt,

I like the coin but am not crazy about the photo. You need to get more light on the coin or increase the brightness using photo editing software. In the end, the photo has to give a good approximation of what the coin looks like in hand. I can say for an absolute certainty that your photo is not doing that coin justice. My guess is that the color progression looks much more like the one on this Morgan that I purchased for $750 in 2002.

And since yours is an MS66, I would guess the price of your coin is much closer to four figures if not above.

I see a little bit of toning creeping on the top of the reverse. :p

But is the toning correspondence correct?

Nice coin. The obverse appears to be a bit dark on the lower left, but overall a very nice coin that I suspect looks even better in-hand.

Lets just say I paid in the very low 4 figures for this coin.

I blasted this sucker with lights today and took a picture. This much closer to the in hand look.

It's a gorgeous coin which now joins many other gorgeous coins on the toner charts.

Now, if you passed right over it, please look at the reverse of my 1797 S-132 thread. It is BLUE on the reverse and I've never seen as worn a blue toner as that reverse. I was under the impression that they had to be nearly UNC to get that color.

Much better photo Todd, and more indicative of what the coin looks like in hand in my estimation. Great coin, wish I owned it.
