Years ago there were ads in the coin and stamp magazines by a company that would search for specific serial numbers or other features on bills. I have been unable to find this recently. The reason I'm asking is that a friend of mine and I have been looking for close to 40 years now for a pi bill - SN 31459265 - or an e bill - SN 27182818. Denomination or series is not important, just the numerical part of the SN. Any ideas on how we might bring our search to a successful end?
there is a seller on Ebay that i have noticed in the past that will do what you ask. They sell notes from different series with the same serial for like $20 or so... i have never bought from them because their prices seem rediculously high, but i vaguely remember them saying if you were looking for a specific serial, to let them know .... if i come across them again i will let you know.
No. Look at the numbers carefully. He said he was looking for: 31459265 But (leaving out the decimal point and going to eight digits) Pi is really 31415926 Now do you notice the one that was omitted? That makes a crucial difference.
davidh, i found the seller on Ebay i was thinking of.... in his auction listing, i didnt see it say anything about finding a serial number of your choice ... but maybe if you contact him/her, maybe they have a way.... here is the auction
