105-95 BC Obv. Turreted bust of Tyche, right. Rev. ZMYPNAION HPAE, Aphrodite Stratonkis, wearing polos, standing facing, resting arm on column, holding Nike, monogram in lower left field. Smyrna was an ancient city located on the Aegean coast of Anatolia. Smyrna was also an early center of Christianity due to pail’s preaching in Ephesus. It’s one of the seven churches in the Bible, in the book of Revelation. This coin is well struck with strong details and Tyche is artistically better than most.
That is a very nice rendering of Tyche's face. An interesting coin. You don't see coins with Aphrodite everyday. John
