I love this part: "this one will be the only one i sell unslabbed." Then he lists two lots!
Perhaps he can find the coins, but can't count.

Usually that is the end of the discussion, but he goes on for another two hundred words.

They must be real, he says he has 7 to prove it!! It tells me that he screwed up the other 18 in the roll making the letters dissapear.;) :D

I was just looking around ebay and found a few people selling smooth edge coins, at big dollars I might add. Has anyone heard of any confirmed cases of authentic missing edge letter coins?
None of the ebay pics are good enough to tell if they are real or not.

If it was real he would have a better pic.

I have seen at least one auction that had a good enough picture to confirm it to be real. I have also seen some wih good enough pictures to confirm that were fake.

There was a good article in numismatic news when the Wasington smooth dollars were being found that showed pics of the edges of fakes and genuine coins. the fakes had sanding/tool marks that ran parallel around the circumference. The genuine coins had the marks or lines running vertical on the edge from the planchet being cut from the strips of metal.
