I wish I could go to the ANA show in Chicago. It sounds like it will be a great show. The Smithsonian display would be worth the trip.

Perhaps you have never been to a major coin show but security is usually tight, especially at ANA shows. That said ANA recently lost a handfull of coins what were stolen from a display case at a small exhibit in St Louis but the stolen coins were returned a few days later.

I'm hoping security is tight too since this is the only state that doesn't allow concealed carry and protects criminals. If it did, it's doubtful Cook Co. would allow it anyway.

The most recent issue of The Numismatist had an article about how the ANA prepares for events and what goes into it. They mentioned in the article that the ANA provides their own security for their events. They said some places won't allow private security so that is make or brake for a lot of locations that they choose from.

If I don't see security with M-16s and Uzis, I'll be disappointed. There will be more value centralized there than all the banks in Chicago put together.

    I am going.

Is there any policy about cameras being allowed to flash the displays?

I was wondering the same thing. I can use mine without the flash and get a decent picture but I didn't know if it would be allowed.

I don't know. You could call ANA and ask. I remember being allowed to take photos of the 10 1933 Double Eagles on display at the ANA Worlds Fair of Money in Denver several years ago. Can't recall if they allowed flash or not.

Vess I highly doubt you find the M-16, but you will have no problem figuring out who's carrying heat.

As for photo's this is from the news release off of the ANA page (incase it don't link right)
