Small strap of historic twenty's from the bank

I got these from the cash dispenser at the bank yesterday. I had never come upon an intact group of old bills before yesterday, either! I got 13 old style bills total out of 30 and sadly there is no telling just how many I missed before I came upon them but I am glad I was able to get what I did.

    The series:
    1990-1(G-D)
    1993-5(B-E,E-G,F-A,F-B,G-C)
    1995-7(D-Bx2,F-B,G-B,J-B,L-B,L-G)
    1996-17(A-A,A-D,B-C,B-D,B-G,C-A,D-B,L-A,L-Bx3,L-J)

Two of the 1993's are mules including a very nice condition F-A. Upon checking the print reports, it looks like these bills have been locked away since early 2000. I don't think they were in a bank vault either as the '96's smell nice and fresh of cedar or some kind of wood.

I love the old notes-- they are the look of money. It is a tossup between the 20's (so I am envious of you) and the hundred dollar bill that I like best. The ten is kind of ugly, though. Nice Finds. :p

I would have cleaned the machine out, never know what else you might find.

    Good Find.

My old man was given two old style's from the machine the Saturday before so I went there on Monday at 9 0'clock opening with some Bens and traded them for 25 twenty's. They were all from 1996 and before so I cashed my check and traded some more Bens for 53 more twenty's and after the first three they were all current bills(up to series 2004A/2006) so I got all of the remaining bills from this old source. I don't know how many I missed before I got to them though...

Not to mention the paper quality is soooo much better when compared to current notes. Even though I think the 2004 twenty was an artistic improvement over its 2001 predecessor, it still looks like "fake" money a bit. A couple months ago I found a 2004 twenty at a gas station rolled up and at first I thought it was some kind of coupon or advertisement for something!

Everyone should have an emergency fund set aside. Using these older notes which are borderline still only worth Face Value as your emergency fund helps to make sure it is truely an emergency before you dip into your emergency fund. It is so easy to justify to oneself why something is an emergency, but you can guarantee I'll be thinking things through before I let go of a few hundred in Star Notes or 1985 $20 bills.
